A quick and easy breakfast sandwich featuring buttery, flaky croissants fried in a skillet with ham and sharp cheddar cheese for a crispy, golden crust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large butter croissants
  • 8 slices honey-glazed or smoked ham
  • 8 slices sharp cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 large egg (optional)

Instructions

  1. Slice the croissants in half horizontally, being gentle to keep layers intact.
  2. Layer two slices of ham and two slices of cheese on the bottom half of each croissant, then top with the other half. Press down gently to compact.
  3. Heat a non-stick skillet over medium-low heat and add 1 tablespoon of butter, letting it melt and foam without browning.
  4. Place assembled sandwiches in the skillet and press down gently. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown.
  5. Flip the sandwiches and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes. If cheese isn’t melting, cover with a lid for the last minute.
  6. Remove from pan and let rest for 1-2 minutes before slicing in half and serving immediately.

Notes

Use medium-low heat to prevent burning the butter and bread before the cheese melts. If ingredients are cold, let them sit out for 10 minutes to ensure even melting. For leftovers, reheat in a skillet to restore crispiness; avoid the microwave.
