Gooey Cast Iron Skillet Smores Dip - featured image

A nostalgic, easy-to-make dessert featuring toasted marshmallows and melted chocolate in a cast iron skillet, served with graham crackers for dipping.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 10 ounces large marshmallows (1 large bag)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate sauce (e.g., Hershey’s)
  • 1 box standard honey graham crackers
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter (optional)
  • Pinch of sea salt or flaky salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Prepare the cast iron skillet by rubbing a tiny bit of neutral oil or butter on the bottom if not well-seasoned.
  3. Pour marshmallows into the skillet, arranging them in a single, even layer.
  4. Drizzle chocolate sauce generously over the marshmallows. If using butter, melt it with the chocolate and drizzle on top.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 8-10 minutes, watching closely after 7 minutes until marshmallows are puffy and golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven and let rest for 2-3 minutes to allow chocolate to thicken.
  7. Sprinkle with sea salt if desired and serve immediately with graham crackers.

Notes

Do not over-bake as marshmallows burn easily. Check at the 7-minute mark. For a richer flavor, add butter to the chocolate. Serve immediately for the best texture. Leftovers can be refrigerated for up to 2 days and reheated in the oven or microwave.
